The Mechanical Engineering Department at UMBC strives to become the program of choice for students to become international leaders in the Mechanical Engineering profession serving, industry, research laboratories and academia.
The ME Department is committed to excellence in research and education and offers distinct undergraduate experiences in design realization through the SAE Mini Baja as well as ASME sponsored competitions, through industry sponsored real world capstone design projects, and through special undergraduate research opportunities offered to undergraduate students each year. Students can also augment their coursework and gain practical engineering experience through internships or co-ops.
