UMBC AIChE Regional Conference
UMBC’s American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Student Chapter is an organization developed with the intention of further developing a student’s skill set required for the chemical engineering discipline. While this organization has continuously succeeded in meeting this goal over the years, it has become much more than an organization to the chemical engineering students at UMBC.
We need your help to host the Mid-Atlantic Regional Student Conference right here at UMBC next Spring 2024. This will be an excellent opportunity for the current body of UMBC Chemical Engineers to have convenient access to a very valuable experience where they can present research, establish connections between peers and industry professionals, and compete in the ChemE Car and ChemE Jeopardy competitions. Your donation to the UMBC Foundation will be used by UMBC to accommodate the attendance of over 30 universities and industry sponsors, helping to book the venue, catering, and getting all the required equipment needed to have a successful conference.
Students participating in the ChemE Car competition are constantly working hard, testing, modifying, and innovating their car designs both during the school year and during the summer in preparation for the regional and national competitions so it is vital that we provide them an opportunity to showcase their progress and put it to the test. Similarly, the ChemE Jeopardy teams practice to develop mastery of Chemical Engineering as well as general STEM concepts and is a prime example of collaboration and effective teamwork. UMBC has historically done very well in both of these competitions and hosting this conference will be another chance to strengthen this tradition.
Professional development opportunities will be abundant at the Regional Conference because students involved in undergraduate research will also be able to participate in both oral and poster presentation competitions of the work they have done. There will also be workshops and a career fair, making it easier for students to connect with each other and the Industry and Graduate School contacts, helping them set up for their future careers and pathways. Any contribution you make to the UMBC Foundation will be greatly appreciated on behalf of the entire UMBC AIChE Student chapter as well as the hundreds of expected attendees next Spring.
All contributions are administered by the UMBC Foundation, Inc., for the benefit of UMBC.
