The La Noue Award
The Individualized Study Program (INDS) would like to request funding for the La Noue Award. With the funding that we have received over the last academic year we have been able to assist students with travel to:
- GameSoundConference 2024
- Tribeca Festival
- Study Abroad
We have appreciated all the funding we have received over the years and would love to continue to provide students with the resources needed to explore their degree.
Background of the Award
Patricia La Noue served as the Director of INDS between 2000 and 2012. Through her directorship, Patricia demonstrated an avid support for undergraduate research and a passion for interdisciplinary projects and activities. To celebrate her contribution to INDS and UMBC, the La Noue Award provides students the opportunity to explore multiple disciplines through real-world experiences outside of the classroom.
Goal: $5,000
We would love to help at least 10 INDS students over the 2025-2026 Academic year at $500 per student, to attend academic conferences, engage in undergraduate research, participate in study abroad programs, etc.
Quotes from La Noue Award Recipients
I am very grateful to the INDS department for funding my remote attendance of the 2024 Game Sound Conference. My access to Game Sound Conference recordings has helped me to become a more versatile and technically proficient soundtrack designer for video games which will help me in my capstone project that involves composing, producing, and implementing a dynamic soundtrack for a video game. -Evan McRae โ25
I was able to afford this study abroad thanks to the INDS program. It was crucial to me that I had the financial support to easily account for these expenses, and I had an incredible experiential research experience as a result of not having to worry about financial constraints. I am extremely grateful to all of the INDS faculty and staff who provided me with these funds, and by participating in this study abroad, I have changed for the better as a researcher, student, and person. - Joy Ware โ25
